Kante was key to the Blues’ title success last season, a year after helping 5,000-1 Leicester pull off the shock of the century by winning the league.
“Last season was amazing for me and the club but this was the past and we need to focus for the future,” he said.
“I don’t feel like the player of the year. I don’t really care about it when I play on the pitch.”
Chelsea warmed up for Sunday’s home clash with Arsenal, by hammering Qarabag 6-0 in the Champions League.
