The Federal Government has issued a directive suspending the tenure policy in the Federal Civil Service with immediate effect .

The directive was contained in a circular to all Ministries Departments and Agencies signed by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Winifred Oyo-Ita.

The Circular, according to statement signed by the director of communications, office of the head of service, Haruna Imrana, conveyed the President’s directive on the suspension stating that it is with immediate effect and all concerned are to comply accordingly.

This directive may affect all Director Generals, Executive Secretaries, amongst others who are on a tenured appointment. Some tenured appointments lasts between four and five years and it may not be far fetched that the President is clearing the way to settle members of the All Progressives Congress(APC) who worked for his presidential election bid.
