Senator Walid Jibrin, the Chairman of Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), has called for maximal use of Nigeria's raw materials.
Jibrin made the call on Tuesday in Abuja at a one-day sensitisation workshop on the administration of Science and Technology, organised by the Federal Character Commission (FCC).
He noted that there are many raw materials in the country that can be exploited for economic development of the country.
Jibrin gave the assurance that the RMRDC would support and encourage the FCC in the discharge of its duties.
Alhaji Lawal Funtua, the acting FCC chairman, urged all Ministries, Departments and Agencies to comply with the principles of the commission regarding recruitment to ensure equitable representation.
Funtua stressed the need to promote unity and ensure fairness in the distribution of socioeconomic amenities in the country.
Alhaji Yerima Giade, the Chairman, FCC Committee on Science and Technology, also urged the participants to comply with the principles of the commission.
Giade stressed the need to use the country’s raw materials to boost socioeconomic development.
``We will be better off if we harness the raw materials in the 774 local government areas rather than relying on only petroleum,’’ Giade said.
