Arsenal boss, Unai Emery, has named two Gunners players that made him ‘very happy’ following his side’s 2-1 victory against Newcastle United on Saturday in the Premier League.
Goals from midfielders, Granit Xhaka and Mesut Ozil ensured victory for Emery’s side.
Ciaran Clark late strike was not enough to get a draw for the Magpies as the Emirates club ran away with a deserved three points at the St. James’ Park Stadium.
Emery, however, said that he was very happy with Matteo Guendouzi and Torreira Lucas because they helped to bring more balance and control to his midfield in the second half of the encounter that made the North London club won.
“The first half we couldn’t control the match like we wanted,” Inside Futbol quoted Emery as saying at post-match press conference.
“We need to impose our ideas, but we conceded a lot of chances for the counter-attack.
“The second half, the balance on the pitch was better. We didn’t concede the transition as easy.
“The key was the first goal, it gave us the confidence to improve on the match.
“I want to give every player confidence. I am very happy with Matteo and with Lucas.
“Maybe the second half we needed a bit more balance, Lucas gave us this balance.”
