A 43-year-old Nigerian woman who recently welcomed a set of quadruplets in a UK hospital after an attempt to have them in the US, has been unable to offset her hospital bills.
According to reports from Daily Mail, a Nigerian woman identified as Priscilla, who recently welcomed a set of quadruplets at the Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea Hospital in west London, part of Imperial College Hospital, after going into labor at the Heathrow airport, has been unable to pay off her hospital bills.
Priscilla, a healthcare worker, who welcomed her babies three months earlier than her expected due date, had reportedly planned to have her kids in Chicago, US, where some of her family members reside, but was turned back by border officials when she got to the US.
Despite the fact that she already had a visa, she didn't have any documents to show she had the money to pay hospital bills.
Priscilla whose bills hit a total of £500,000 (about N307,500,000) lost two of her babies eventually, while the other two named Elijah and Esther, have been at the hospital's neonatal intensive care ward, where they are still undergoing treatment.
The cost of treating one baby in the intensive care ward has been estimated at £20,000 (about N12,300,000) weekly.
Priscilla is also being accommodated at a hostel run by a charity, while her husband is still in Nigeria and hasn't been able to visit as he cannot afford the bills for a visa and flight.
43-year-old Priscilla had her babies through IVF treatments, and had been told to fly to the US to have her babies because they were better suited to handle them.
