Gareth Bale's hopes of being fit for Sunday's La Liga showdown with Barcelona have received a boost as he returned to training following a muscle injury on Thursday.
The Wales forward rejoined the squad for their first training session since their Champions League win over Bayern Munich on Tuesday night, Madrid said in a statement.
He had been a major doubt for El Clasico, having been forced off with injury in the first leg of Madrid's quarter-final tie at Bayern.
Zinedine Zidane's side host Barcelona at the Bernabeu on Sunday in a clash which could go a long way to determining the outcome of the title race. Madrid go into the match with a three-point lead and a game in hand on their bitter rivals.
Barcelona also travel to the league leaders having been eliminated from the Champions League in midweek.
Luis Enrique's side failed to overturn a 3-0 first-leg deficit as they were held to a goalless draw at home by Juventus.
Madrid, meanwhile, are three matches away from becoming the first team to retain the famous trophy after they overcame Bayern Munich 6-3 on aggregate.
In between the two legs of the heavyweight European clash, Madrid maintained their advantage at the top of La Liga with a 3-2 win over Sporting Gijon thanks to Isco's last-minute winner.
